Research Areas

Neha Jangeti is a doctoral candidate in Sociology at the University of North Texas and an incoming Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Texas at Dallas. As a sociologist who studies work and organizations, reproductive sociology, medical sociology, epigenetics, health and aging, Neha aims to advance research on decision-making within labor markets and healthcare systems.

In her dissertation, she investigates how policy, the healthcare system, medical providers, and social inequalities impact sterilization decision-making among women in post-Roe Texas. Through in-depth interviews and clinical shadowing of the women at their respective doctor’s appointments, Neha examines how women make the decision and navigate the choice to undergo sterilization at a time when reproductive rights are highly regulated.

Neha’s research work is funded by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB); she is a Texas Leadership Research Scholar. Her research is also funded in part by the University of North Texas Graduate Research Award and the Sociology Department’s Thesis and Dissertation Small Research Grant.
