Visual Effects in Indie Film? Yes, You Can!
2025/03–2025/03 This panel will introduce indie filmmakers to Visual Effects (VFX) and empower them to confidently incorporate visual effects in their films. VFX isn’t just for big studio budgets! But, few resources explain VFX scope and processes to lower budgets. We will review common indie VFX scenarios and provide advice on planning, budgeting, and the process.Panelists:

Joey Cade is an innovative producer and creative business executive, specializing in building successful teams and producing tech-forward content. For 25 years, she has produced VFX, animation, live action, and new media for indie producers, as well as for studios, such as Disney, Amazon Prime, MTV, NBC, ABC, Sony, Universal, Reel FX, and others, on titles including “Enchanted”, “Rise of the Guardians”, “Halo 2”, and “The World's Largest Environmental Experience” for EarthX. Active in mentorship, she serves on multiple boards, is producing a slate of original IP, serves as a VFX consultant to studios and independent filmmakers, and a professor at the UTD Bass School Animation & Games Program. Joey's sunny disposition and ability to manage complex creative projects have earned her a reputation for excellence. As a lifelong learner, she’s always seeking new challenges and to form more relationships of collaboration and trust.
