Appointments
Infrastructure Health Monitoring with Resonance Analysis: Theory, Application and Communication
Sustainable Earth Systems Science [2025–Present]
Dr. Yawar Hussain will be offering a special seminar course on using nodal seismometers to monitor infrastructure on campus. Students will learn the basics about seismometers, earthquake seismology and how to process data to infer the frequency response/stability of different buildings. They will also get to collect the data they use! At the end of the course, the students will also have the opportunity to write up their results to the UTD magazine. The course will be once a week on Thursdays at 9:00-9:50 am in ROC 2.103, and is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. The first lesson will be on Thursday March 06. If interested, email Dr. Hussain at yawar.hussain@utdallas.edu . This is a free seminar course we hope many of you will enjoy!

Undergraduate/graduate research in seismic instrumentation
Department of Sustainable Earth Systems Sciences [2025–2025]
We have an opening for undergraduate/graduate research in seismic instrumentation (near-surface seismic). The project will involve testing and using geophysical equipment. The duration of the project is the Spring 2025 semester. You will get to join an active research group and learn more about practical near surface geophysics as well as gain research-credit toward your degree. If you are interested, send your CV, transcript, and a few sentences on why you would be a good fit for the position to nadine.igonin@utdallas.edu
