Research Interests
My previous and current research interests lie in the application of hearing instrument technology to improving communication skills. My past work has been in developing and evaluating tactile aids, cochlear implants, and hearing aids. In addition, I have been involved in defining and expanding the scope of practice of audiologists in the U.S.Publications

UT Dallas’ Dr. Ross Roeser Named as First Recipient of Lois and Howard Wolf Professorship
Dr. Ross Roeser, a professor of communication sciences in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at The University of Texas at Dallas, recently was appointed to the university’s newly created Lois and Howard Wolf Professorship. Roeser received the honor for his outstanding contributions to, and international reputation in, the field of audiology. The professorship includes an endowment and research stipend.
Roeser recently stepped down as executive director of the university’s Callier Center for Communication Disorders, which is renowned for its clinical, educational and research programs in communication disorders. Now director emeritus, he has been at the center for more than 35 years.
UT Dallas to Honor Staffers for Decades of Dedication
The University of Texas at Dallas will recognize 255 employees for their years – in many cases decades – of service Tuesday, March 6.The Annual Service Awards will honor employees who reached service milestones in September 2010 through August 2011. The ceremony starts at 3 p.m. in the Alexander Clark Center auditorium. Co-workers, family and friends are welcome.
Dr. Ross Roeser, professor and executive director emeritus of the Callier Center for Communication Disorders, will be recognized for 40 years of service. Roeser, who also is the Howard B. and Lois C. Wolf Professor for Pediatric Hearing, joined Callier before it merged with The University of Texas System and UT Dallas in 1975.
Callier Audiologist Honored for Distinguished Career
For the past 37 years, Dr. Ross Roeser, executive director emeritus of the UT Dallas Callier Center for Communication Disorders, has had an extraordinary influence on the field of audiology. As a result of his commitment to audiological practice, research, administration and educational excellence, the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) presented him with its Distinguished Achievement Award.Roeser received the award at AAA’s annual conference in Dallas on April 2.
The award’s recipients include audiologists who have been exceptional educators in the classroom or clinic or have been innovators in program development. The recipients are often pioneers in the areas of clinical service delivery, teaching or research, or any combination of the three.
