Dr. Hicks is a Clinical Professor of Organizational Behavior at the University of Texas at Dallas. He is the founding director of the Organizational Behavior, Coaching, and Consulting (OBCC) program in the Naveen Jindal School of Management. Dr. Hicks is a Licensed Psychologist with a background in both clinical and organizational psychology. He has over four decades of experience coaching executives of fortune 500 companies, executives and department chairs of various medical institutions, and teaching coaching methodology to leaders and practitioners. Dr. Hicks holds an appointment as Faculty Associate in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW). At UTSW, he consults with the dean's office and coaches incoming chairs of medicine for the institution. Dr. Hicks' program at The University of Texas at Dallas provides an eMBA program in healthcare organization leadership for UT Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Hospital as part of an educational partnership. The Executive and Professional Coaching Program at The University of Texas at Dallas, developed by Dr. Hicks, has received the prestigious International Prism Award from the International Coach Federation. This award recognizes organizations that have enhanced excellence and business achievement by committing to professional coaching as a leadership strategy. Dr. Hicks has taken the lead in educating leaders in coaching methodology to improve their leadership style. He has written two books on the subject: Coaching as a Leadership Style: The art and science of coaching conversations for healthcare professionals (2014) and The Process of Highly Effective Coaching (2017) – both published by Routledge.Publications
