Dr. Maurine Ogbaa's critical and creative work explores the experiences of African diasporic women, advancing brilliant analysis around the dual meanings of bildungsromans both the development of a life and "development" in the sense of national and institutional upbuilding in the Global South. Maurine is currently completing her dissertation in English Literature at the University of Houston (with certificates in Empire Studies and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies); she previously earned her MFA at Washington University in St. Louis, and she has a strong teaching record. Her short stories have been published in prestigious journals, including AGNI, Prairie Schooner, and Callaloo and her scholarship is forthcoming in an edited collection (with another article under review). Dr. Ogbaa offers engaging and dynamic pedagogical and craft discussions and her interests in African diasporic studies, feminism, and philosophy.
