About Me
Hello! My name is Lisa Vazzi and I’m one of the professors teaching the undergraduate Comm 1311 class.I started teaching traditional college classes in 1998, and have been teaching online for more than a decade. I’ve taught communication classes at both Collin College and Brookhaven College, in addition to the hybrid and online courses I teach at UT Dallas.
My background has been in marketing, public relations, sales, advertising, and freelance writing as well as owning several businesses. As a coach and consultant, I helped many clients gain confidence in public speaking or learn more about media to effectively market their business.
On a personal level, I love to research and learn, especially health topics and personal development topics. I am a certified Life Coach with additional coaching certifications in specific areas such as Health and Wellness, Nutrition and Sports Nutrition. Because I love digging in to learn more (always the 'journalist'), I find it particularly rewarding to research health topics and help others overcome their health challenges. As a Lifestyle coach, I enjoy encouraging and supporting positive changes in mind and body for each person I work with. I believe the ‘coaching’ trait to provide encouragement and support helps greatly as a Professor in Communications…especially for students who may experience anxiety in public speaking!
As a professor, I help nervous students see public speaking differently, and gain control over their anxiety to become a much more effective and confident speaker. Having that confidence in yourself and in public speaking opens many doors to success in your career and in your personal relationships.
I am a wife and mom to two young men. My youngest is currently attending college.
Originally, I’m from the Midwest but absolutely love Texas - we are so happy to be making our home here in this great state!
I love traveling in general, but especially exploring Texas. I enjoy trying new healthy recipes, nature and gardening, tennis, and reading.
