Additional Information
Carol A. Flannery, Ed.D.
Carol Flannery has been teaching math and statistics in college and universities for more than thirty years. She has not only produced and appeared in math tutoring videos, but was also a guest on the children's television show, Mr. Peppermint, in which she taught math concepts to Muffin the Bear and Jingles the Dragon. Carol has always been eager to share her enthusiasm for learning math. Along with developing curriculum for area business and industry, she has also created workshops to attract more people into the fields of science and mathematics. She has developed online undergraduate and graduate-core statistics courses, the Math Refresher for students within the Executive Education programs, and statistics courses for physicians who are completing advanced degrees in health care administration. Her hobbies include photography and participating in the conservation of wildlife. At one time, she served as Texas Director of the Elsa Wild Animal Appeal, a worldwide wildlife conservation charity. Her association with the Appeal provided the opportunity not only to travel to Kenya and Tanzania, but meet the organization's founder, author Joy Adamson (Born Free, Living Free, et al). The two became friends and Carol was able to witness first-hand some of the activities with one of Joy's last animal rehabilitation projects involving Penny the Leopard in Shaba (located in Kenya's Northern Frontier District). "I had wanted to travel to Africa since I was nine years old. It was a dream come true to visit East Africa; the people, the land, the culture, seeing animals in their natural habitats, a truly wonderful experience." In addition to her love of traveling to exotic locales, Carol's other hobbies include woodworking; collects, restores and plays vintage guitars. She earned her Masters and Doctoral degrees from Texas A&M at Commerce and has been teaching for the University of Texas at Dallas since 1995.
