Research Areas

Dr. Hong-An Wu's (she/her/hers) interdisciplinary scholarship bridges arts education with critical game studies and feminist science and technology studies to perform a cultural inquiry of emerging media technologies in contemporary media arts education. Specifically, Dr. Wu's research redresses the failures of technologies in education and their inequitable consequences by theorizing critical, careful, and playful pedagogies with technologies oriented toward social justice. Dr. Wu's published works appear in Catalyst: Feminism, Theory, Technoscience, Journal of Cultural Research in Art Education, OneShot: A Journal of Critical Games and Play, among others. At UT Dallas, Dr. Wu co-directs the Studio for Mediating Play with Dr. Josef Nguyen.
