Research Areas

Research Interests
Multivariate Psychometrics / Sensometrics / Advanced Multivariate Statistics / Individual Differences / Analysis of Qualitative Data

My research is organized around two main areas:  a) advanced statistics, sensometrics, and psychometrics and b)  psychology of memory. The psychology of memory research is mainly directed toward the modeling of semantic memory (e.g., scripts, schema, concepts), autobiographical memory, and memory for non-verbal material (e.g., taste, smell, faces). For statistics, sensometrics, and psychometrics, my interest includes the analysis of qualitative data and the analysis of complex and large multi-block and multi-modality data sets (e.g., mixture of quantitative and qualitative data) as often found in brain imaging or genomic data. These methods include (among others): simple and multiple correspondence analysis, partial least square correlation (PLSC) and regression (PLSR), Multi-Way multi-dimensional scaling  (STATIS), and multiple factor analysis (MFA). I am also interested in making the results of these analyses easier to interpret by developing new methods (e.g., sparsification) that can help automatically identity important variables and observations in large and complex data sets.
